June 2007 - Music and Worship Ministry Update July 19, 2007
June 17 - “Father’s Day” - Once again, we had our annual “all come” Mass Ladies Choir for the service. We simply had all the ladies of the congregation come to fill the choir loft and sing “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” and “Amazing Grace”. With over 250 voices singing away, it was an incredible time of worship. We continued the the service theme of running the race with Dr. Ken Cutrer preaching.
June 24 - Speaking of Ladies choirs, we were fortunate enough to host the Singing Women of West Texas for the morning serice. I cannot tell you how delighted I was to see our congregation wrap their arms of love and encouragement around these lovely ambassors for the Kingdom. Thank you so much ladies for leading our worship.
CD Recording Update: We are in the final mixing stages and are planning on sending the finished product to a reproducing facility later in July. We will be selling the CD’s for $8 until August 31. After that, the price will have to be $10. If you would like to purchase a CD of our Senoir Adult, Sanctuary, Youth, and Children’s Choirs, please email Patti Humphries for more information.
2007 Lifeway Worship Leadership Conference June 21, 2007
It has been almost twenty years since visiting the campus of Ridgecrest, a Southen Baptist icon and heritage for many in the ministry today. In preparing for the conference, I really did not know what to expect. I know that Mike Harland and Lifeway Music are making huge changes for Southern Baptist Churches all over the globe. I will try to write several smaller blogs concerning topics from the conference, but I wanted to update you all on what the conference pastor had to say.
Dr. Jim Futral was the pastor for the week and I must say that if you have ever hear the term “shucking the corn”, then you have seen Dr. Futral in action. His heart for the Lord (more…)
May 2007 - Music Ministry Update May 29, 2007
May 6 - “SA Sunday” - we had a retired pastor (Rolfe Dorsey) and our S.A.M. Choir lead the morning worship service…it was in deed a real treat…for the evening service, our S.A.M. singers lead a musical service entitled “Lead Me To THE Rock”…what a great time we had…the only sad thing about the whole day was the news of our friend Art Parker passing on to glory…
May 13 - “Mother’s Day” - WOW…we have started a little tradition @ SBC with massed choirs singing several times throughout the year…on Mother’s Day this year we invited a “ya’ll come” choir comprised of men only…we had over 70 men for the 1st service choir, and well over 200 men for the 2nd service choir…UNBELIEVABLE!!!!… (more…)

Talents Not Used - Don’t Drown the Tree! June 14, 2006
We moved to Louisville in January of 2004 and have been trying to make upgrades and repairs on our house ever since. Seems to be the story of my life in that there is always something that needs fixing or finishing. We have been making improvements with the landscaping and when we moved in there was a small Pear Tree sapling that had just been planted by the previous owners. Well after two years of staking it, mulching it, fertilizing it, and playing music to it in hopes that it might get stronger and start growing, we decided to transplant the small tree to another part of the property.
Well, when I started using the shovel, I quickly realized we had a problem. The soil surrounding the tree was mushy and soggy. That would have been fine if we had had recent rains, but (more…)
Evan’s Big Week! May 22, 2006
Wow…what a week!…Evan has officially recieved his diploma from Kindergarten (thank tha’ Laud) and we are in the swing of summer already!…on Wednesday though, I got to be a part of something I never could have planned if I wanted to…we received tickets to a Bats Game and Evan got picked to run the bases with “Buddy” the Bat, the team mascot…well obviously Evan won the race and I could not have been prouder…well…I’ll write more about this later…gotta go…blessings.
Okay, I’m back…what I wanted to share was this…I experienced incredible pride and joy as my little boy rounded those bases…and if my earthly joy was that great, how great is our Father’s pride and joy as He sees us fulfill life to its fullest…how happy my Father in heaven must be when I get to fullfill the specific purpose and plan He has laid out for me…I pray that you are right in the center of where wants you…have a blessed week…
May 16, 2006 - My First Post May 16, 2006
Well…here I am in the office with a pile of paper with handwritten scribbles/typed “to-do” list and what am I doing?…I am writing my first blog…I hope this technoology can really help “center” all of the chaos that happens from week to week within the walls of music ministy here @ SBC…there are literally hundreds of things that have to take place week in and week out, and maybe, just maybe this tool will be of huge value…we will see…so I guess this is my first blog post of many more to come…welcome to my little world!!!…blessings.
G3 Song for the week is: G3 - Crown Him With Many Crowns…enjoy…
